Umberto Tenaglia Obituary

FRANKLIN Umberto Tenaglia, 86, of Franklin, and longtime summer resident of Swifts Beach in Wareham, died suddenly at his home in Franklin on Friday, July 11, 2008. He was the husband of Laura (Nardone) Tenaglia for 60 years. Born in Lanciano, Italy, in December 1921, a son of the late Raffaele and Anna (Cieumelle) Tenaglia, he was raised and educated in Italy and came to the U.S. in 1948. He settled in Franklin, and remained here ever since. Mr. Tenaglia was a retired stationary fireman, who worked for many years for the former Kendall Mills Co. in Walpole. Before coming to America, he worked as a carabinieri for the Italian National Police. He was a member of Sacred Heart Council Knights of Columbus, a life member of the St. Anthony & Columbus Benevolent Society in Franklin, a member and past treasurer of the Franklin Lodge #1414 Sons of Italy in Franklin, and a communicant of St. Mary's Church. Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Ralph L. Tenaglia and his wife, Penny, of Franklin, Aldo F. Tenaglia and his wife, Alessandra of Altea, Spain; a brother, Ciro, of Melrose; and four grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral Tuesday, July 15, at 10:15 a.m., from the Charles F. Oteri & Son Franklin Funeral Home, 33 Cottage St. (www.franklinfuneral.com), Franklin, with a funeral Mass at St. Mary's Church at 11 a.m. Interment is in St. Mary's Cemetery. Calling hours are Monday, July 14, from 4 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home. Donations in his memory sent to the charity of one's choice, is appreciated.
