Caroline Landers Obituary

Caroline Landers FRANKLIN Caroline (DeFlumera) Landers, 86, of Franklin, where she had been a resident for the past 13 years, died after a brief illness on Friday, July 18, 2008, at the MetroWest Medical Center in Framingham, surrounded by her loving family. Born in November 1921 in Medfield, she was the daughter of the late Nicole and Angelina (Losco) DeFlumera and was educated in the Medfield Public Schools. Formerly of Duxbury and Medfield, Caroline had been employed for 17 years by the Duxbury Motor Inn as the manager until her retirement in 1989. She also had worked for many years for the former Carter Hat Factory in Holliston. Ms. Landers was remembered by her family as a great cook, and was devoted to her children and grandchildren. She was also a faithful contributor to many charities. Wife of the late Robert J. Landers, she was the mother of Edwin B. Aldrich and his wife, Jeanne, of Franklin, Linda Carmel of Auburn, the late Nancy Boulanger and Carol Sheedy. She also leaves two sisters, Anna Plichta of Milford and Angelina Balcom and her husband, Clayton, of Medfield; as well as 14 grandchildren; and many great grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, July 22, at 10 a.m., at St. Edward the Confessor Church, 133 Spring St., Medfield. Burial will follow in Vine Lake Cemetery, Medfield. Visiting hours are Monday, July 21, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the Roberts-Mitchell Funeral Home, 15 Miller St., Medfield.
