Josephine Mauro Obituary

MARLBOROUGH Josephine M. (Raiano) Mauro, 92, of Marlborough died Thursday, July 24, 2008, at UMass Memorial Healthcare-Marlborough Hospital after being stricken ill at home. She was the wife of Artillio A. "Arthur" Mauro, who died in 1947. She leaves her daughter, Lucia A. Slamin and her husband, Richard, of Marlborough, with whom she lived; a brother, Francis J. Raiano of Marlborough; three grandchildren, Kathleen A. Bridge and her husband, Timothy, of Brookline, Karen A. Slamin of Worcester and Mark R. Slamin and his wife, Gaelle, of East Boston; five great-grandchildren, Brittany Bridge, Erin Bridge, Megan Bridge, Katie Bridge and Jack Slamin. She was the sister of Albina E. Mauro, who died in 1996, and Alfred F. Raiano, who died in 2000. She was born in Marlborough, daughter of the late Eliseo A. and Josephine M. (Ricci) Raiano, and was a lifelong resident of Marlborough. She was educated in the Marlborough school system. For more than 60 years, she was a farmer at Raiano Market Gardens and Greenhouse on South Street in Marlborough. She was a former member of St. Ann's Church in Marlborough and most recently a member of Immaculate Conception Church. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who always put family first and stressed strong family values and hard work. Her funeral will be held at 8 a.m. Monday, July 28, from John P. Rowe Funeral Home Inc., 57 Main St., Marlborough, with a Mass at 9 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, 11 Prospect St., Marlborough. Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery, Southborough. Calling hours at the funeral home are Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m.

I was sorry to read of Josephine's passing. She was a lovely woman and someone I loved seeing at least once a week, as did my Grandmother from Southborough...They used to share planting information with each other. My deepest sympathy to her family. Fondly, Puff Bradley Uhlman
