James Moore Obituary

HOPKINTON James Schumann Moore, 83, died July 30, 2008, at the University of Massachusetts Hospital in Worcester. Born in Lynn, he was the son of the late James and Dorothy (Newcomb) Moore. Mr. Moore had been a resident of Massachusetts for most of his life prior to retiring to Bradenton, Fla., for 10 years.He returned to Hopkinton two years ago. He was retired from Honeywell Corporation, a veteran of the U. S. Air Force, and served in both World War II and the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion in Hopkinton and AARP. He is survived by his former spouses, Marilyn (Soper) Moore of Hopkinton and Muriel (Almy) Moore of Florida; his sons, James S. Moore of Hopkinton, Harold R. Moore and his wife, Colleen, of Hopkinton, and Phillip C. Moore of Florida; his daughters, Susan M. Quigley and her husband, Paul, of Hopkinton, Cindy M. Lewis and her husband, Richard, of New Hampshire, and Kimberly M. Smith and her husband, Greg, of Australia; his brother, Robert H. Moore; 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held Saturday, Aug. 2, at 3 p.m. at the Chesmore Funeral Home, 57 Hayden Rowe St., Hopkinton (www.ChesmoreFuneralHome.com.) Calling hours are from 1 to 3 p.m., prior to the funeral service. Burial with military honors will take place at the Bourne National Cemetery on Monday, Aug. 4. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Lung Association, 460 Totten Pond Road, Suite 400, Waltham, MA 02451.
