Edgar Eglitis Obituary

LITTLETON Edgar Eglitis, 82, of Littleton, died unexpectedly in Sweden on Sept. 23, 2008. He was born in Latvia on Jan. 11, 1926, son of the late Julius and Anna (Linkaitas) Eglitis, and was the husband of Christine (Pierce) (Healy) Eglitis, who died in 2003. He grew up in Latvia, and at age 17, he and his entire immediate family were uprooted due to World War II. They raised their family of six children while living in many locations in Eastern Massachusetts. Edgar was a skilled carpenter and worked in construction for most of his life. He established Eglitis Construction Company, which operated in the Greater Boston area for many years. He married Christine in 1974, and they had since made their home in Littleton. He loved his garden, flowers, woodworking and spending time with people he loved. Mr. Eglitis is survived by his children, Edgar and his wife, Karen Eglitis, of Framingham, Peter and his wife, Roberta Eglitis, of New Milford, Conn., Anita and her husband, John Cormier, of Bellingham, Robert and his wife, Irma Eglitis, of Maynard, Daina and her husband, Jerry Sutton, of Boston, and Dagmara Eglitis of Boston. He is also survived by his stepchildren, Joanne and her husband, Bob Myers, of Bolton, Gail Scott of Acton, Carol and her husband, Daniel Sweeney, of Bolton, Dorothy and her husband, Richard OReilly, of Princeton, along with 22 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
