Joan Giovanella Obituary

Joan E. Giovanella MILFORD Joan E. (Barton) Giovanella, 69, of Milford died, Monday, Oct. 13, 2008 in her home. She was the wife of Francis Giovanella who died in 1984. She was born in Wellesley daughter of the late Robert and Frances (McLearan) Barton and lived in Wellesley and Medway before moving to Milford in 1995. She was a graduate of the Newton-Wellesley High School, Class of 1957. She retired in 2004 from the Milford Federal Savings and Loan in Milford where she was employed as a teller. She was a volunteer at the Fatima Shrine in Holliston, volunteer at the Milford Regional Medical Center and a member of the Daughters of Scotia in Milford. She is survived by one daughter Beth and her husband Mark Ferretti of Brewster; three grandchildren, James Ferretti, Elizabeth Ferretti and Hunter Ferretti all of Brewster. She was predeceased by her son James Giovanella who died in 1986 and her grandson Paul Ferretti who died in 1999. The funeral will be held Friday, Oct. 17, at 11 a.m. from the Consigli-Ruggerio Funeral Home, 46 Water St. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at noon in the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 7 East Main St. in Milford. Cremation will follow in the Rural Cemetery in Worcester. Calling hours are Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Milford Humane Society, 289 West St., Milford, MA 01757.

Beth, I am so sorry for your loss. I remember as a child visiting with Ed and Joanne and always referring to your parents as "Aunt Joan and Uncle Frank". (and those crazy geese chasing me!) My thoughts are with you at this difficuly time.
