John Villani Obituary

ALBANY, N.Y. John Villani, 98, of Albany, N.Y., died Sunday, Nov. 2, 2008, at the Daughters of Sarah Nursing Center. Born in Milford, he was the son of the late Pasquale and Angela (Palumbo) Villani. He graduated from Milford High School in 1929. Mr. Villani worked as a waiter at the former DeWitt Clinton Hotel for 45 years and later at Jack's Oyster House, as a banquet waiter. He was a communicant of St. James Church and a member of the Holy Name Society. Mr. Villani was a member of Local #471 Waiters and Bartenders Union for 54 years. He was also a member of the Amrose Scully Post #1019. Mr. Villani was a World War II Army veteran, having served with the 823rd Tank Destroyer Battalion from France to the Elbe River at Magedeburg, Germany. He received the Purple Heart for his injuries. He was the husband of the late Phyllis (DeMarco) Villani; father of Patrick Villani of Scotia, N.Y., and John Villani Jr. of Rensselaer, N.Y.; brother of Susan Giampeitro of Milford, and the late Bennie Villani, Alba Consaletti, Rose Trombetta, Guerino and Dante Villani. He is also survived by four grandchildren, one great-grandson, several nieces and nephews.

I would like to extend my deepest sympathy to the Villani family. I write this in the memory of the man i called "Grandpa". I have spent time with him and am very glad i had. I miss him and do wish there had been more time spent! Sincerely missed!

I was so sorry to hear about Mr. Villani. I lived two doors away from
Mr. Villani from the time I was two he
was always wandering over to our yard smoking his pipe and giving my
mother vegetables from his yard. I will always remember how kind a man he was.
