Harold G. Taft

Harold G. Taft HOPEDALE Harold G. Taft, 103, of Hopedale, died Saturday, Nov. 29, 2008, in the Geriatric Authority of Milford. He was the husband of Reina (Adams) Taft, who died in 2000. Mr. Taft was employed by the former Draper Corp. in Hopedale for more than 40 years, primarily as a welder and in his later years, became a member of the Time Study Group. He was a former member of the Hopedale Fire Dept. and presently an honorary member of the Hopedale Fire Dept. Mr. Taft was born in March 1905, in Upton, the son of the late George H. and Angie (Wood) Taft. He was a graduate of Texarkana High School in Arkansas, Class of 1926. Mr. Taft served on a mine sweeper in the U.S. Navy during World War II attaining the rank of chief petty officer. Mr. Taft was a member of the Hopedale Unitarian Parish and of the Montgomery Lodge of Masons AF & AM of Milford. He was an avid fisherman on Cape Cod and he loved traveling with his wife via automobile. He was a former National Champion in the U. S. Revolver Assoc. Harold is survived by one cousin and many friends. He was predeceased by his twin brother; Willard W. Taft, who died in 1999. A memorial funeral service will be held Tuesday, Dec. 9, at 2 p.m., at the Buma-Sargeant Funeral Home (www.bumafuneralhome.com), 42 Congress St., Milford. Interment will follow in Lakeview Cemetery, No. Main Street, Upton. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Hopedale Unitarian Parish, c/o Ammen Goodwill Fund, P.O.
