Virginia Taylor Obituary

VIRGINIA LEE JAMES TAYLOR AUG 29, 1924 ~ MAR 13, 2009 Virginia Lee James Taylor was born on August 29, 1924 in Santa Paula, California and died March 13, 2009 after a brief illness. Raised in Fillmore, California, she was the youngest daughter of U.B. and Maude James. She attended UCLA and graduated from San Jose State in 1947. On July 15, 1945 she married her high school sweetheart, Bob Taylor. Their mutual faith in God, sense of humor, love of reading, travel, and golf as well as a deep respect and trust in one another combined to make a wonderful marriage, lasting over 63 years. Together they had 4 children, Kathy Jepson, Rod Taylor, Doug Taylor and Ken Taylor. She taught elementary school at Shiloh School for almost 20 years, loving the Shiloh community and all those she came in contact with there. She didn't know what sports were all about until she married a Taylor and became her children's biggest fan. After retiring in 1980, she enjoyed golf, traveling with her husband and the numerous friends she and Bob made over their years in Modesto. She was a dedicated volunteer in many areas including the Salvation Army, Trinity United Presbyterian Church, and James Marshall School. Virginia was actively involved in a dedicated Bible study group known as Baum Shelter'' which has been meeting for close to 45 years. She loved playing cards, having friends and family for dinner, tending her beautiful garden and was a wonderful hostess to all who entered her home. She always had a kind word to say about anyone she met. She is survived by her husband Bob Taylor, daughter Kathy Jepson and her husband Don, son Rod Taylor and wife Susan, son Ken Taylor and wife Janelle, and daughter-in-law Lisa Taylor Wolfe. She was preceded in death by her son, Doug Taylor. She was a proud grandmother to Janelle Peoples, Kristi Warren, Matthew Taylor, John Herrera, Emily Herrera, Jason Herrera, Robyn Taylor, Alyssa Taylor and Greg Taylor. She was also survived by 3 great-grandchildren, Noah Quintana, James Herrera and Natalie Peoples. A celebration of Virginia's life will be held on Tuesday, March 17, 2009 at 1pm at Trinity United Presbyterian Church in Modesto. Remembrances may be made to Trinity United Presbyterian Church, the Salvation Army or Community Hospice. And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to his purpose.'' Romans 8:28www.modbee.com/obituaries

My husband and I live across the street at 505 Roxbury. Mrs Taylor was one of my first clients when I attended beauty school at Adrian's Beauty College. She was a lovely lady and we are very sorry for your loss.
