THOMAS J. HYNES JR.
AGE: 77 OLD BRIDGE
Thomas J. Hynes Jr., 77, of Old Bridge, died Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2009, at home. He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., lived there, Manalapan and Berkeley before moving to Old Bridge five years ago. Mr. Hynes owned and operated Vintomar Service in Manalapan for 15 years. He was the oldest brother of 12 siblings. He was a 4th degree member of St. Gabriel's Knights of Columbus, Assembly 650, Marlboro, an Army veteran during the Korean Conflict, former parishioner of St. Maximilian Kolbe Church, Toms River, and a communicant of St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Old Bridge. When he lived in Silver Ridge, he was a member of the Bocce Club and drove the Silver Ridge bus.
Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Mary (Basciano); three children and their spouses, Catherine and John Savarese, Thomas J. III and Patricia and Vincent and Lorraine; nine grandchildren; and five brothers and sisters, Gloria Kelly, John, Lawrence, Margaret Byrne and Eleanor Hynes.
Visiting will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 4 at Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, 26 Mule Road, Toms River. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 5 at St. Maximilian Kolbe Church, Toms River. Burial will follow at Ocean County Memorial Park, Toms River.
