Derek Blake Obituary

(Courier News)

DEREK ALVIN BLAKE
PISCATAWAY
Derek Alvin Blake, born January 13, 1965 in Plainfield, NJ to Betty and the late James Blake, departed this life on Saturday June 27, 2009 in JFK Medical Center in Edison, NJ. Derek was united in holy matrimony to Stacey Womack on July 20, 1996. He was employed by Capital Printing Company in Middlesex, NJ for 10 years. Derek was an avid bowler with a couple of perfect games and a lot of 299 games. His desire was to beat his mother and he finally did. Whenever he wasn't bowling he was working, whether it be at work, in the yard, on the car, on the grill, or mixing CDs for friends. He was the perfect Grill master by day and a CD mix miester by night.
Derek leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 13 years, Stacy Blake of Piscataway; two daughters, Keysha and Jasmine; one granddaughter, Anhai Silvera; a God Daughter, Alyssia Blake of Piscataway; his mother, Betty Blake of Plainfield; three brothers, Arthur (Marcelina) of Plainfield, Jonathan (Pauline) of Elizabeth and Bernard (Cynthia) of Piscataway; a sister in law, Marjorie Blake of Piscataway; father and mother in law, James and Jackie Hainesworth of Hillsborough; brothers in law, Jerome Womack, Roderick Womack (Stacey) of Hillsborough and Jessie Womack of Somerset and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Derek was a rare, caring, worry free individual who loved his wife and family unconditionally. He never held a grudge against anyone (only when he missed a ten pin spare).
Funeral Thursday 11am in Calvary Baptist Church, 324 Monroe Ave., Plainfield. Viewing Wednesday 6-8pm in Brown's Funeral Home, 122 Plainfield Ave., Plainfield. Interment, Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains. Condolences may be expressed at brownsfuneralhome.net.

To the Blake Family-

I was saddened to hear of Derek's home going service. Derek and I graduated from Plainfield High School in 1983 together and I have very fond memories of his skills on the basketball court, his infectious laugh and definite zest for life. I am sorry I missed the opportunity to see him at the last class reunion.

Be Encouraged and Always Remember His Laughter!! May God Bless You and Keep You In His Perfect Peace!!

We must live each day as if it is our last. Treat everyone the way you would like to be treated. Derek was one who respected everyone. Stacey was blessed with a very caring spouse. God shall see the rest of the family through what seems to be very, very dark. We ALL shall be called home one day!!

Stacie,
Derek loved you and so do we. Know that God decided it was time for Derek to come home to be with him, there's nothing that any of us could have done to keep him here any longer.
May your Love & Memories sustain you during this difficult time of mourning & grief. Trust in God to bring you out of the darkness back into the sunshine. HE WILL SEE YOU THROUGH.
God bless you and the family and may he rest Derek's soul.
Love,

The pain of Derek being gone can not be explained and while we all hurt deeply Father God makes no mistakes. I am a better man and bowler for having known Derek Blake and for that I am very thankful. Derek was The Man but mostly he was a true friend to many.

God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes. —Revelation 7:16-17

Heavenly Father, you know how deep my grief is. I long for the touch of a hand, the sound of a voice that is stilled. You are merciful and kind.
You will comfort my wounded heart. Wipe the tears from my eyes. Thank You for understanding so well our poor human hearts and for letting us lean on
You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Perhaps they are not the stars, but rather openings in heaven where the loves of our lost ones pours through and shines down upon us letting us know that they are happy...may you take some comfort in knowing that you have a guardian angel watching from above. May god comfort you and keep you during the days ahead

To The Entire Blake Family,

God never promised a life without pain,
Laughter without tears or sun without rain.
But He did not promise strength for the day,
Comfort for the tears and the light for the way,
And for all who believe In His Heaven above
He rewards their faith In His everlasting love.
