Cheryl Novascone Obituary

Cheryl Novascone, 72 ESCONDIDO -- Cheryl Eloise Novascone passed away in Escondido on Sunday, August 1, 2010 from a ruptured aortic aneurism. By her side was her loving husband of 36 years, John "Jack" Novascone. She was born in Alamo, California on April 5, 1938, the first of two children born to Ortha and Madison Wulfing. Cheryl attended Piedmont High School in Piedmont, Calif., and worked as a lifeguard and swim instructor at the landmark Fleishhacker Pool in San Francisco. After high school, Cheryl graduated San Francisco State University and worked at Kaiser Aluminum in Oakland as a mainframe word processor. She married Jack Novascone in 1974, creating the large blended family of Jill, Linda, Lynn, Dana, and Jim. The family was often found at Northstar, Calif. snow skiing or enjoying summer vacation. In 1979, Jack and Cheryl moved to Escondido, Calif., to establish the family business, Wickline Bedding Company. Cheryl was a long standing member of Soroptimist International, a member of the Escondido County Club and loved golfing and playing bridge with her husband. She enjoyed spending time with family, inviting extended family and friends alike to major holiday gatherings where it can be said no one ever...ever went hungry. Cheryl was preceded in death by her daughter, Dana Helm. Cheryl is survived by her husband, and his children, Jill Valenti, Lynn Snyder and Jim Novascone; her brother, Guy Wulfing; daughter, Linda Helm; niece, Amy Wulfing, her two grandchildren, Michael Helm and Kathryn Helm; and great- grandson, Pierson Johnson. In lieu of flowers, her family asks that a donation be made in her name to the Arthritis National Research Foundation. Sign the Guest Book online obits.nctimes.com
