Rosemarie Bunker Obituary

Rosemarie Vorkink Bunker, 90 ESCONDIDO -- Rosemarie Vorkink Bunker died peacefully on Wednesday, September 8, 2010. Born in Salt Lake City on April 6, 1920, the second child to William and Hazel Vorkink, she spent her adult life as the veterinary wife and companion to her beloved husband, Von Clyde Bunker. She grew up in Los Angeles, and attended Los Angeles High School and junior college prior to marrying her high school sweetheart, Von Clyde. Shortly thereafter, they moved to Columbus, Ohio, where Von studied Veterinary medicine at Ohio State University. They left Ohio and moved to Modesto, Calif., where Von began a large animal practice and they started at family. After a year, they relocated to San Pasqual Valley where four more children were born, and his work in artificial insemination and the dairy industry flourished. In 1957, they moved to a small farm in Escondido where their children grew up. Rosemarie was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and worked for many years with the women's Relief Society. She loved family history and was very involved in genealogy research. A former musician and artist, she began oil and tole painting after her husband passed away in 1976. She was also skilled in making handicrafts and delighted in making beautiful quilts for family in the remaining years of her life. She will be remembered fondly as a warm and compassionate mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her five children, Lorene Ensley, Paulene Popek, Jay Bunker, Sharlene Church, and David Lee Bunker, including 22 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren, survive her. A memorial service will be held at the LDS Church on Washington Blvd., in Escondido at 10 a.m., Friday, September 17, 2010. She will be interred after the service at Oak Hill Cemetery in Escondido. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Cancer Society. Sign the Guest Book online obits.nctimes.com

Kindness, consideration and class found a body in Rosemarie. One could safely instruct one's children to be whatever she was. We have loved her for years.
