The moment that Clay joined our Old Gold Rugby team his character stood out. He was the most genuine and caring human being that I ever met. My recent conversation with him reinforced what a special person he was. I called to console him and I walked away as the benefactor of the conversation.
I now know that we all have someone watching over us.

I grew up with Clayton. In the fourth grade, he sat in back of me and left a strong impression. I remember that he was a serious student and always wore a crisp white shirt. We weren't close in high school, but in the late 1980s, I started working at a technology company in Lexington, and as I drove up to the place on my first day, I heard a bagpipe playing in the distance. You can imagine how amazed I was to find out it was Clayton Bower, my childhood friend, working in the same company. He visited my home in Somerville and--after telling us about all his hobbies, including beekeeping--proceeded to trim our wisteria. He was bright and curious in so many ways! My mother was warden at the polls at Wilson middle school for many years. After every local election, she would call to tell me that Clayton sent his best regards. She was so impressed by him. I can't tell you how sad I am to hear of his passing. He is unforgettable. Sincerely, Emily Barkin

I remember Clayton very well from Natick High. Even though we only spoke on occasion, he left a strong impression of sincerity and kindness. He struck me as very intelligent, gentle, and sensitive to others in a way not yet attained by many guys at that age. It is no surprise to read of the many ways he reached out to others in his life.

I will think of Clayton every time I hear bagpipes. I will always remember finishing up rugby practice and then hearing Clayton's bagpipes and the echo around the Boston College campus. RIP

I remember meeting Clayton for the first time as a new employee at Cal State San Marcos, he was helping me with Excel. I thought he was funny as well as professional, I was trying to make light of the training since I was having a difficult time but he was gracious, patient and I thought he was a very nice man.
