Robert was one of my favorite people, his humor, attitude about life, and his sweetness were my favorite qualities about him. I miss Robert (and Rita) so much, they were such dear friends...the world has lost so much not having those 2 people in it!!!

Dearest Rita,
So sorry, I thought I already signed the guest book, but discovered I hadn't. It goes without saying how much I loved Robert and how much I love you, his passing has left a huge hole in my heart and I will miss him so much. You two were definitely the "perfect" couple, so much fun, and I always loved our conversations, especially with Robert, always something interesting to say. I have always enjoyed our friendship and being a part of your life. I know this has been an incredible thing for you to go through, but always know you have so many people out here that love you, care about you and are here to support you. Just seeing everyone that was at Diana's, and how much love there was flowing in every direction, was so heartwarming and touching and proof how much you and Robert are loved and how much he will be missed.
Go forth my friend, knowing that Robert is looking down upon you and you will be together again someday. Heck, hopefully all of us will end up together again and we can have one big class reunion in heaven, which you will plan of course!!
Love you much,
Cheryl

Sweet Rita: I just learned of Robert's passing. My heart is broken for you. You both were so welcoming and wonderful to me when I came back to Oceanside for a reunion. I would've been lost without you and Robert making sure I knew what was going on and letting me ride with you to events. A more gracious couple would be hard to find. Please know that I am thinking of you and hoping you will take good care of yourself during this difficult time. I'll definitely want to see you next time I visit Oceanside.
Love,
Diane

Rita,
Though I didn't know Robert well, I truly enjoyed the time that I spent with the two of you. Your friendly and fun welcome made it a joy for me to be at your house and share in your love and kindness. I would have written early, but I've recently returned from India. My brother Bob wrote me when I was there and I know how upset he was about the passing of one of his most-loved friends. Also, I've become more aware of friends and friendship and that Robert provided this to so many people. He will be greatly missed, but his memory and the love that he gave will continue in all of our hearts.

Hi Rita and Robert:
I know I sent you a note on the email, but wanted you to have it here too. I am really sad that you have had such a battle. And that you Rita will be left behind for awhile. I am so greatful to have you both as friends... very glad for our friendship way back in school and more recently---and that you had good years together. I look forward to seeing you both again and together in the hereafter! Love Susan

I only knew Robert recently when I was lucky enough to attend Alumni celebrations and picnics for the class of 1962 even though I was in the class of 1958. Robert and Rita and everyone always made me feel welcome. I know that Robert touched many people's lives and we are all better for it. I hope I get to meet up with Robert again someday.

Dear Rita,
Wayne and I are praying for you. Robert was such fun to be around. He was always the first one to start a conversation. He was so intresting to listen to. I really saw the love between the two of you. We will always remember the story of your beautiful
stained glass front door. I know you have a life time of memories to help bring you comfort and peace. Stay strong and be blessed.

Darling Rita,
I truly loved Robert like a big, fun loving brother. In 1960 we would go down a very steep hill on a skateboard built for two. All friends surf boards were kept in my dad’s workshop, and we’d take off for the beach at 5 AM. Then we lost contact until I saw him at his apartment on Freemont St. Again, we lost contact until a multi-high school class reunion in 2005. Knowing Robert for 50 years, he never changed. He always had love of life, people and all things precious to him. You were number 1 of his precious loves in his life. I was ecstatic to learn you were married. Dear Heart, the two of you were meant to be as one, which you were for about 20+ years. Robert’s laughter was contagious, plus his outlook on life and people were infectious to show individuals to always have a smile, a kind word for everyone he met. Big brother I will sincerely miss you and keep enjoying your hobbies in Heaven. My prayers are for both you. Rita, a heartfelt poem starts with: “Miss Me, But Let Me Go.” Keep your chin up and continue the love you had for Robert with other people you know and will met.
Much Love, Bonnie Monahan

Rita,Robert was truly blessed when you came into his life, a great life for both of you. Robert was such a great guy never a bad word about anyone, we had a lot of super times together from Saint Marys to high school and then later again when we were much older, I will never forget our times hitting all the surf spots or just hanging out. I can say he is one person I will always think about with a smile. Thanks Robert a great buddie, could not find one better.

Aunt Rita, it was truly a privilege to be near you and Uncle Robert during his difficult last days. Despite his struggle, he remained his usual happy, positive, optimistic self. I learned much from this - he reinforced for me the lesson he taught me long ago: to take life as it comes, to treat others well even in times of adversity, and to take time out for relaxation and reflection. His light-hearted attitude never faltered, and, by example, he has raised the bar for me in terms of how I must carry my self emotionally. I owe him a debt of gratitude, and I hope that from his celestial longboard he can see that I will be forever trying to walk in his big, kind-hearted shoes.

Rita, They say that behind every great man there is a greater woman! I am sorry that I never met your wonderful husband and best friend in life. I am blessed to know you and you bring a smile to me every day when I see you in class. I know you must greatly miss Robert, but his sweet spirit lives in you. May you find comfort, peace and joy in the days to come as you reflect on the many days that God blessed you with your special friend and husband. Blessings, Gretchen
