Florence Tomlinson Obituary

Florence Elizabeth Tomlinson FALLBROOK -- Florence was born in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, on January 19, 1922. "Flo" as those who knew her best called her, met and married her husband of 69 years, Harold, on December 29, 1941. Together, they raised three children: Bonnie Fox of Fallbrook, Greg of Coquille, Ore., and Murray of Julian, Calif. Always the devoted wife and loving mother, she placed the love of family above all else. She had a heart that was always open and a spirit that was welcoming and warm. Her love knew no bounds. As her husband wrote many years before about when they had met: "She had a quality very rare at her age of serenity and acceptance of the situation around her in a totally fearless manner that showed clearly a person at ease with herself and her world. She was open and generous, and faced life with an honesty and sense of humor that was unquestionable." Florence passed away on the morning of Sunday, September 5, 2010. With her passing, our world seems to be a bit emptier. However, her memory will always hold its own beauty that will remind those of us who were blessed to have known her, of the warmth and love that surrounded her all of her life. She gave of herself in a way that impacted most all who came to know her. While we mourn her loss, she leaves behind a legacy so rich and precious that words cannot describe. We will not say goodbye, for she will remain in our hearts forever. In every sunrise, in every rainbow after a spring shower, we will remember her smile. Sign the Guest Book online obits.nctimes.com

Mom gave herself completely to our family. We were always her most prized possession. She was always proud of us, even when we were not so proud of ourselves. Her love for us had no limits. She gave us everything and asked nothing in return. We love her and miss her deeply.

While my heart is broken, I am comforted that Mom and Dad are once again together. I will miss her more than can be expressed in words, but I am also blessed to have been given so many years to tell her how much I loved her. I only wish I could tell her again, one more time.

I love you, Mom.
