I have had the great pleasure of knowing Mr. Hayward and his family. I have never known a finer gentleman. My heart goes out to his family. It was an honor to know him.

I am glad that other people knew Charles as a gentleman of the old school as well as I did. He was the glamorous older brother of my friend, Mary Ellen, and I enjoyed seeing him in Carlsbad when Mary Ellen was here. I will share the newspaper notice with friends in Pasadena who remember him well. I send my sympathy to all the family.
