Richard Powers Obituary

Richard "Dick" Powers, 76 SAN MARCOS -- Richard "Dick" Powers passed away peacefully at home on Monday, September 6, 2010. Dick was born in Rochester, Minnesota on May 19, 1934. He moved to North San Diego County in 1941. He graduated from San Dieguito High School, served in the Navy and was then employed as a meat cutter for Safeway and Vons. He is best remembered for the love, devotion and care he gave to his wife, Sandie of 42 years, who passed away in 2008 from complications with M.S. They are laughing together again. Dick is survived by his five children; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and three nieces. One sister preceded him in death. A Celebration of Life will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 23 at Valle Verde Mobile Estates Clubhouse, 1286 Discovery St., San Marcos. In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to be made to the M.S. Society or Hospice. Sign the Guest Book online obits.nctimes.com
