Hiram Pettersen Obituary

Hiram Potter Pettersen, Jr. SAN MARCOS -- Hiram Potter Pettersen, Jr., 81, passed away Monday, October 11, 2010. He was born August 18, 1929 in Passaic, N.J., son of Hiram and Mary Pettersen. Hiram served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He earned an AA degree from Long Beach City College and was a Regional General Manager for a linen supply company for 35 years. Hiram was a 4th degree Knight of Columbus and member of the Rotary Club. He also was an avid golfer. Hiram is survived by his wife, Velma Joan Pettersen of San Marcos; five daughters, Catherine Brown, Judy Alexander, Renee Eckstut, Gail Brown, and Barbara Wynn; three sons, Mark, Hiram J., and Sean Pettersen; two step-sons, Mark and Kevin Manley; and 15 grandchildren. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Monday, October 18, at St. Mark's Catholic Church in San Marcos. A private inurnment will be held at Ft. Rosecrans National Cemetery in San Diego.
