Barbara Lund Obituary

Barbara Lund 1922 ~ 2010 ESCONDIDO -- Barbara Jean "Bobbye" Lund passed away peacefully on Tuesday afternoon, October 12, 2010. She was a resident of Crest View Manor (Escondido) where years earlier she was their activity director. Bobbye was born in Flagstaff, Ariz., July 25, 1922 to Joseph and Mary Rickel. She graduated from Phoenix Union High School and Phoenix Junior College. Early on, she worked for American Airlines as a Stewardess where she met her beloved husband, Col. Arnold A. Lund, a Marine Aviator. During their life together, she became a devoted military wife and mother who loved entertaining, golf and crossword puzzles. After the death of her husband, she and daughter Pat moved to Escondido where she worked as a Medical Assistant and Activity Director in long term care. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia and her husband, Gary Cook, and their two children, Tyson and his wife, Jenni Cook, and Marquesa and her husband, Brandan Whearty; and sisters, Mary Louise Sims of Tucson, Ariz., and Margaret Ann and Richard Smith of Escondido, along with nine nieces and nephews. There will be a small graveside service for family only at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery in San Diego at a later date.
