Edwin Fischer Obituary

Edwin "Dick" Fischer, Jr. VISTA-- Edwin R. "Dick" Fischer, Jr., 84, passed away Wednesday, October 6, 2010. He was born November 7, 1925 in Anaheim, Calif., to Edwin Richard Fischer, Sr., and Ada (Duker) Fischer. Dick graduated from Vista High School in 1943. He was a self-employed citrus grower and rancher. Dick served in the U.S. Army from 1944 to 1946. He was a charter member of the First Lutheran Church in Vista, was a Bonsall school board member for 21 years, a Fallbrook Citrus Association board member, a member of Villa Park Orchard Association and also was on the San Luis Rey Water District Authority Board. Dick enjoyed spending time with family and playing sports with his children and friends, (ping-pong continued until the end). He also enjoyed water-skiing and handball, but fishing was a great love that he shared with his wife and children. Dick was fun-loving and had a wonderful sense of humor. He was dedicated to his wife and his family, but above all his Lord Jesus. We can not put into words a description of him, he was an honorable man. Dick is survived by his wife, Irma J. of Vista; son, Edwin R. (Ed) Fischer, III and his wife, Linda of Escondido; daughter, Peggy Hermes and her husband, James of Philomath, Ore.; son, Donald E. Fischer and his wife, Pamela of Phoenix, Ariz.; daughter, Judy Wygal and her husband, Bruce of Fallbrook; his sister, Jeanette Westerhold of Vista; and his grandchildren and great- grandchildren. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday October 23 at the First Lutheran Church, 1410 Foothill Blvd., Vista, Calif. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salvation Army, 2320 5th Ave, San Diego, the First Lutheran Church of Vista, or a charity of their choice. Dear Jo and Family,
You may not remember us, Carl and Nancye Mercer, it has been so
many years since Carl drove the school bus and I taught first grade.
We are so sorry for your loss of your wonderful husband and father.
I clearly remember his beautiful smile and the many years he gave to
the Bonsall School Board. I still make Jo's recipe with the Chinese
Noodles, one of our favorites. We are thinking of you.

Dear Jo and Family, We have been thinking of times when you and Dick would come to our office & we'd share many stories & laughs together. Dick was a wonderful man and had a terrific sense of humor. We have all been very lucky to have had him touch our lives in a very special way. May God Bless each one of you while you start this new journey in your lives. Dick will be dearly missed. Much love, The Staff at Alta Vista Insurance.

He was a wonderful man and an incredible grandfather. I will cherish the many happy memories I have of him, from hours of ping-pong in the garage to catching lizards at the ranch. You had quite a catch, Grandma!
