Mr. Shea was inspiring. He infused his teaching with caring, wit and high expectations. I can imagine that educating teenagers year after year would be grating, but we knew Mr. Shea loved his students and was passionate about teaching -- not just algebra or geometry or trig -- but responsibility, respect and achievement.

Mr. Shea, you were, and always will be, the only person to call me Jenny; mainly because I couldn't get you to stop and after a year I found it endearing. Although I do admit it did take until I was married to know what "Batting a Thousand" meant. You will be deeply missed. Thank you for making such a positive impact on my life.

My warmest sympathies to Peggy and the Shea family.

Sorry to hear about Bill. He was a good friend and a great golfer. I was playing with the Fallbrook Senior
Golfers at Mt. Woodson when he shot the historic score. We lost touch during the last few years but he was not forgotten. What a pleasure to have known him.

Sincerly,

Bob Blair

Mr. Shea was the first teacher that I had at Fallbrook, first period algebra. Although, my freshman year was the only time I set in his classroom, I continued to learn from him during the next three years. He provided more than problem solving skills. He provided the best example of a positive attitude. He was always encouraging to every one, athlete or student it didn’t matter. Even after high school he provided encouragement every time I saw him in town. It was my privilege to have known Mr. Shea. He was most optimistic person and will truly be missed by all.
With my deepest sympathy

A truly special, talented teacher. So many young people benefited from his teaching long after they left his classroom. His smile & wit were legend. His affection for his family was lovely. It was a true privilege to have known him. We will miss him. Our sincere condolences to his wonderful Peggy & Family. Gary & Donna Lane (Fallbrook CA)

Dear Peggy -

We all loved Bill because everyday he either put a smile on our faces, or he made us laugh!

Not only was he an extraordinary teacher because he cared whether or not students learned math but also he genuinely cared for all of his students.

He was a gift that we will always appreciate.

Dear Peggy -

We loved Bill because he loved to laugh, and there was not a day that did not go by where he made us smile or laugh.

He greatly influenced his students with his encouragments
and knowledge of math, but more, he genuinely loved teaching kids. He was a great gift to us all.

Bill was an outstanding educator and a wonderful man. I first met Bill when he was coaching baseball for Fallbrook High. We would see each other only a few times a year when Fallbrook played Carlsbad, where I coached. In all the games we shared, Bill was always positive and encouraging with his boys. I never saw him get upset or negative. The other thing I remember is how we talked about family. There was no question in my mind that Bill's number one priority was his family.

Years later when I went to work in Fallbrook, I saw more of Bill. He was one of the finest teachers at Fallbrook High. His positive and caring attitude was reflected in his teaching. As a result, his students knew that Bill truly care for each of them as an individual. He enriched the lives of all the students he touched.

It was my privilege to have know Bill Shea.
