Sally Lafragiola Obituary

Sally Laurene Lafragiola VISTA -- Sally Laurene Lafragiola passed away peacefully at the Palomar Medical Center, Escondido, on Wednesday, October 13, 2010, with family by her side. Born April 23, 1915, in Webster City, Iowa, Sally, daughter of William and Sina Brownfield, was one of 12 children and during her teen years she worked as a mother's helper to accomplish her goal of completing high school. Once graduated, Sally moved to Los Angeles, where she met and married her first husband, Kenneth Day, in 1936. In 1956 the family moved to a ranch in the Salinas Valley, where Sally started a Charm Club for young ladies, taking them on field trips and teaching them social graces. She was an active PTA member and church youth assistant. The constant theme of Sally's life was helping others, generously sharing her love, time, and energy. She attended Hartnell College in Salinas and was proud to receive her LVN license. In 1972 she returned to Southern California and bought a home in Vista, where she lived until her death. In 1976 she married Bruce Lafragiola. She learned to paint, speak Spanish, and volunteered for the Blind Club and the American Cancer Society, which was her favorite charity. Sally is predeceased by her first husband Kenneth, second husband Bruce, and son Edward Day. She is survived by her daughter Pamela and husband Donald Pyke of Vista, six grandchildren, and 10 great -grandchildren. A celebration of her life will be planned for a later date.
