In Memoriam Dr. Edward A. Nowell 01/04/1940 ~ 10/31/2010 CARLSBAD -- Dr. Edward A. Nowell passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 31, 2010 after a brief but valiant battle with cancer. Hello Mo,
We were so sorry to learn of Ed's death. You and Ed sort of initiated us to the Southern California lifestyle oh, so many years ago. We were at Mercy Hospital in SD with you and Ed 1968-70. I so remember the night Ed put out lobster traps off the Oceanside coast and we had fresh lobster for dinner at his condo. Having grown up in the Midwest, we thought we had found heaven. Hope you and your children are well. Thinking of you. Jerry and E'Louise Ondash

Dear Nowell family,

So sorry for all our loss. He was a respected physician, family man, and gentle giant. I'll never forget how he wouldn't hesitate to step in to protect his ER staff, the man was not afraid to get down and dirty, never got too full of himself nor took life too seriously. He leaves behind his legacy with his family and his extended Tri City family.

You will always be remembered, Captain Eddie!

We are also very grateful for the opportunity to be allowed by Ed and Tom to be Married aboard the "Diversion"....that was 15 years ago and one of the happiest days of our lives :) Again...Wonderful memories! Your family is in our hearts and prayers. Warmly, Rob and Tamara Sarracino

Dear Mrs. Nowell and family,
I had the honor to work with Dr. Nowell for almost 15 years in the Emergency Department at TCMC. He was one of those amazing clinicians who had the perfect mix of skill and intuition. He touched so many lives - and was so good to all of us. I am so sorry for your loss. Bon voyage Captain Eddie, you will be greatly missed.

Eddie was one of my friends when we were kids at Bell High School. We had lost contact but I thought of him often and the fun we had together back then. I wish I had known he lived in Carlsbad as my wife Mary and I live here too. Odd the way life is, isn't it? My heartfelt condolences to the family. You're all in our prayers.
