Colonel Charles Edwin Moore, Sr. FALLBROOK -- Colonel Charles Edwin Moore, Sr., 91, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 28, 2010. He passed away from natural causes at Rancho Vista Retirement Community in Vista California. Chuck Moore was born on August 4, 1919 in Cleveland Ohio. Chuck was commissioned as an officer in the Army Air Corp. and received his wings in 1941 and served in the Air Training Command where he trained hundreds of B-17 pilots during WWII. Late in his 24 year Air Force career, he was closely involved with the secret development of the U-2 Aircraft at Lockheed in Burbank, California. He retired as a full Colonel in 1964, and they lived in their ocean view home in Rancho Palos Verdes until 2004, when they moved to Fallbrook, California. His favorite pastime in retirement was walking his dog, Karma, along the bluffs near the Portuguese Bend Club.
