Stanley Ames Obituary

Stanley Ross Ames, 85 ENCINITAS -- Stanley Ross Ames passed away Wednesday, November 3, 2010. He was born May 8, 1925 in San Diego, Calif., son of Clinton and Elizabeth Ames. Stan attended and graduated from Browns Military Academy in Pacific Beach from 1st through 12th grade. He was also a graduate of San Diego State with a Business degree, after serving in WWII: U.S. Army, 603 Medium Tank Company, attaining the rank of Staff Sgt., and receiving a Purple Heart. After the war, Stan worked for Sears for 37 years in Management, and Commercial Construction, Demolition and Renovation. Stan loved to golf, work in the yard, and umpired softball which he did for 10 years. His favorite pastimes were his grandchildren, and eating anything sweet! Stanley is survived by his wife, Catherine Ames of Encinitas; son, Steven Ames of San Diego; daughters, Pamela Tansey, and Leslie Monteith from Salinas, Calif., and Kimberly Powles from Roseville, Calif.; step- daughter, Debra Deshaies of Novato, Calif.; step- sons, Bradly and Steven Purinton of San Marcos, Calif.; and seven grandchildren. I remember Stan when we first started our time at Sears in Escondido. He was a hardworking gentleman. May God bless Stan and all of you in your time of sadness.
