Blanche Romine Obituary

Blanche Romine, 95 SAN MARCOS -- Blanche Romine was born May 21, 1915, and raised in Manhattan, New York City. Blanche was married to Lt.Cmdr. Emery Angus Romine, U.S.N., at South Mills, North Carolina, and served with her husband during 14 years of his military career. This service included six of his seven aircraft carriers. She was employed for 15 years in the Nuclear Weapons Laboratories at Albuquerque, N.M. and Sandia National Laboratories at Livermore, Calif. She was a Component Assembler in the manufacturing of the Fat Man and Little Boy bombs at the Albuquerque Laboratory, and as a Classified Document Clerk at Sandia, Livermore. She had Top Secret Queen clearance during her employment at the nuclear laboratories. Blanche had one son, Donald Emery Romine of Riverside, Calif., and is survived by her husband; son; daughter-in -law, Mitzi; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren, She was greatly loved by her family and many friends and will be sorely missed. Her funeral arrangements are being performed by Allen Brothers Mortuary, San Marcos, and her ashes will be placed, along with her husband, in the Columbarium at either Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery or Arlington National Cemetery, depending upon space available. Blanche died after a long and difficult battle with cancer. No memorial or special funeral services are planned. She is at rest now with the Lord and His angels in heaven.
