Laura Jean Phelps, 24 OCEANSIDE / VISTA -- Laura Jean Phelpspassed away Sunday, November 7, 2010. She was born on May 29, 1986 in Oceanside, California, however,she lived in Vista for most of her life. She was a graduate of GuajomePark Academyin 2004. In 2010, she graduated Magna Cum Laude from Kaplan Collegevia the school'smedical assistant program. She loved sewing, singing Karaoke and being with her friends and family. She was a kind and unselfish person who would help anyone in need. Because of this, she thoughtfully chose to be an organ donor when she received her driver's license. Upon her death, she was able to save the lives of seven people. While she was taken from ustoo soon, it is comforting to know that through her donation she gave others a second chance at life. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Charlie and Ruth McNew of Escondido. She is survived by her mother, Mary Peifer of Vista; her father and stepmother, Mark and Julia Phelps of Oceanside; her brothers and sisters, Matt Phelps of Los Angeles; Natalie Romero of Eureka; Zach Phelps of Oceanside;Hannah Phelps of Oceanside;her paternal grandparents, Don and Loreta Phelps of Texas; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. Laura will be dearly missed and always in our hearts. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 27, 2010, at 3:00 p.m. at The United Methodist Church of Vista, 490 South Melrose Drive, Vista, Calif. 92081. Pastor George Hooper will officiate. Private internment will take place at Oak Hill Memorial Park in Escondido. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Laura's memory to Lifesharing-A Donate Life Organization, 3465 Camino del Rio South, Suite 410, San Diego, Calif. 92108.
