Norbert Lypps Obituary

Norbert John Lypps 02/14/1918 ~ 11/17/2010 ESCONDIDO -- Norbert's life began in Placentia, Calif., the first of seven children born to Victor and Elizabeth Lypps. In July of 1943, while serving in the US Army Air Corps as a flight instructor, Norbert married his love, Suzanne Sexton. They began a family that eventually grew to nine children. After many years of operating an appliance service business in Fullerton, Norbert relocated his family to Escondido in 1966 to begin a 40+ year career as an avocado rancher. Norbert's passions ranged from his yearly deer and elk hunting trips to Colorado with his brothers and sons, to soaring above the clouds in his airplane. He sustained these passions into his 80s. His dear wife, Suzanne preceded Norbert in death, unexpectedly in 1985; in 2006, their son, Richard would also depart early. With his good nature and solid bass-tenor voice in St Timothy's choir, Norbert captured the heart of Beatrice Long, whom he married in May of 1986. Norbert and Beatrice shared much love and enjoyed many adventures together in their golden years of life. At 92, Norbert's body tired, yet his indomitable spirit carried him further as his loving wife, Bea, children, and caregivers nurtured him until he accepted his Lord's call home, completing his journey on earth. Norbert is survived by his wife, Beatrice; daughter-in-law, Marylyn Lypps; his sons, Nick (Mary Frame) Lypps; Chuck Lypps; his daughters, Jane Allen, Kitty Lee, Susan (David) Boyden, Charlene Marie, Donna (Ron) Aanerud, & Margie Anne Strellman; 23 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren; sisters, Dorothy Wassner, Lou Ann Steinwand; and brothers, David and Jack. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Mary Melaine Tokar; and brother, Alvin Lypps. Norbert was a hard working, gifted man who could fix just about anything! He had an impeccable character, a great sense of humor, and will always be remembered for his kind, loving, patient, generous, and positive spirit. Services will be held at Church of St. Timothy in Escondido on Wednesday, November 24, 2010 at 10 am. In lieu of flowers, Norbert's family suggests donations to the ministries of Seeds of Hope, (www.sohip.org) or Acres 4 Life, in his memory. Sign the Guest Book online obits.nctimes.com
