I am so sorry to hear of his passing. I used to live in Vista, but worked in Carlsbad and purchased my paint there. Two young boys worked there also, must have been his sons. Always service with a smile..

I am so lucky to have the parents I was blessed with. My dad was always supportive and encouraged us to be the best that we could be. He consistently had a positive attitude and and a great work ethic and I benefited trmendously working with him at Koopsen's Paint Store for almost 20 years. His love for travel allowed our family to experience many wonderful vacations and I am so very thankful that he took the time to enjoy life. I think of him everyday and will miss our many conversations that I always enjoyed. I loved him very much and will cherish our relationship forever.

I met John through Mike and Cyndie as I used to help Mike hang mini blinds from time to time. I can remember when Mike and I would load the truck and tell John we would see him later, he just smiled "o.k." as he always did day after day (hoping the truck returned in one piece). He treated me and every customer with a smile and respect, so proud to be of service to the local community for many, many years. John Koopsen, an honest, good hearted man who did Carlsbad right with Koopsen's Wallpaper and Paint. Kay, Mike, Scott and Johnny, my prayers are with you.

To Kay, Mike, Scott, and Johnny

I was saddened to hear of Uncle John's passing. I have many fond memories of our family trips to Lake Michigan, Goshorn Lake, and family get togethers. After your family's move to CA there were too few times that we saw each other. Art and I enjoyed our visit to CA in 1997 and were at least able to see you briefly. Our thoughts are with every one of you. Loralee (Koopsen) and Art Phenis

My family first met John Koopsen and his wonderful family when they moved to Carlsbad from Michigan. They opened the paint store in our building, and were incredible neighbors and tenants for almost 30 years. It was always a pleasure to see John. He was an old fashioned businssman who took pride in his work, his products and his customers. We need more men like him today.
My prayers go out to Kay, Scott, Mike, and Johnny; and my heart is filled with warm memories of a true gentleman and friend.
