Gregory Losa Obituary

Gregory Losa CARLSBAD -- Gregory William Losa passed away Monday, December 6, 2010 in San Marcos, California. He was born near Colton, California on May 9, 1923. He was a lifelong Carlsbad resident graduating from Oceanside High School in 1941. He enlisted in the Army and served as a paratrooper in the European Theater of Operations during World War II. After the war, he returned home to Carlsbad to pursue his dream of building homes. He began as an apprentice plasterer and eventually became a General Building Contractor. Many well-built homes still stand as a testament to his workmanship. During his career, he was very involved in community service. He was the Charter President of the Carlsbad Optimist Club. He participated in the development of Little League and Pony League baseball in Carlsbad and assisted in the building of the ball fields. In retirement, Greg enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling. He loved to visit his ranch in Colorado and his mother's native country of Mexico. Greg was preceded in death by his mother, Irene; his brother, Jose; and his great-grandson, Jace Evans. He is survived by his sister, Annette Dawson"Nettie;" his daughters, Dorothy Losa and Marilyn Hansen; and son-in-law, Terry Vitiello. Also nephews, Andy Borden, David Vosper, Greg Lundqvist and Steve Lundqvist; and nieces, Kathie Lundqvist-Roman, Natalie Roman, Virginia Hegge, Susan Hawkins, and Gail Loofburrow. He also leaves behind eight grandchildren, David Evans, Katie (Dennis) Gehrke, T Vitiello, Garth Hansen, Mimi (Jayson) Bolster, Chris (Pamela) Hansen, Mike Evans, and Tom (Stacey) Evans.
