William Latham Obituary


William H. (Bill) Latham SAN MARCOS -- Respectfully, the Latham family wanted to inform everyone that William H. Latham (Bill Latham) passed away peacefully Sunday, December 5, 2010 around sunset at 4:45 p.m., due to complications. Mr. Latham struggled with his health over course of the last year. For those of you who may have known him, he was a cherished and active member of the Lake San Marcos Community for nearly 32 years. Bill Latham was born in Helena, Montana in 1922, and was one of four children. He had two older sisters, Betty and Eleanor, and one younger brother, Harry. Two of his siblings were also members of the Lake San Marcos Community before passing a number of years ago. The Latham family moved to Southern California to join Bill Latham's grandfather when he was 6 years-old. He graduated from Mount Carmel High School in Southwest Los Angeles in 1941 and became a Naval Veteran of World War II. Later on, both Bill and his brother, Harry Latham, served proudly with the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) for approximately 30 years each before moving and retiring to Lake San Marcos. Bill Latham is survived by is wife of 60 years, Beverly Latham, and his four children, Gregory Latham, Linda Spade, Michael Latham. The Latham Family welcomes those who knew Bill Latham to join them as they honor his memory at: Saint Mark's Roman Catholic Church, 1147 Discovery Street, San Marcos, California 92078 The services for Bill Latham are planned for Friday Morning, December 17, 2010. The "Rosary" will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by "Mass" at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, The Latham Family requests that donations be made to: Los Angeles Fire Department Widows and Orphans Disabled Fireman's Fund, 815 Colorado Blvd., 4th Floor Los Angeles, California 90041.
