Adele Davis Obituary

Adele E. Davis OCEANSIDE -- "When one finds a worthy wife, her value is beyond pearls" (Prov 31:10). Adele was the wife of a retired Foreign Service officer, Thomas W Davis, and assisted with his diplomatic responsibilities in Laos, Hong Kong, Haiti, Turkey, South Arabia, Greece, and Jamaica. She was born to Peter and Sophia Pirog October 23, 1921. Adele joined the WAVES in 1944, subsequently meeting her husband in San Francisco, where they married November 21, 1944; a marriage lasting until her death at their Oceanside home December 4, 2010. Adele, an avid reader, enjoyed tackling crossword puzzles. She loved birds and animals especially Koby, her Bengal cat. She is survived by her husband, Thomas; son Richard; grandchildren, Thomas and Genevieve; sister, Helen Greytak; nephews, Ron Greytak and Gary Zimmerman; and nieces, Frances Kean, Carol La Cappelle, and Linda Bishop. A funeral Mass was offered by Reverend Charles Talley on December 16 at the Mission San Luis Rey, followed by interment at the Mission's cemetery. Sign the Guest Book online obits.nctimes.com

While I did not know Aunt Adele as well as I wish, I am coming to understand what she meant to so many others. My memories are of a cousin's mother whose smile was as bright and whose will was as strong as diamonds.
