I never forgot the name of Nurse Piccirillo! She was on duty when I arrived at Scripps Memorial Hospital for the birth of my daughter Briana on 10/21/77. Having just moved to CA from Boston, I was comforted by Rita's N.Y. accent and her reassuring ways. She called my Dr. in the hallway and he said to go ahead without him as I was ready to deliver. She woke up an associate of his who was asleep at the hospital and in a couple of minutes Rita rolled me into the delivery room. My husband barely made it into the room, as he was checking me in. Anyway at 1:00 a.m. my daughter was born. She is now 33 and a mom to an 8 month old boy. When I read Rita's name in the newspaper, I had to send you a note to express my condolences and tell my little story of your wife and mother who was with me when my baby was born. Sincerely,
Joyce (Corso) Wise
