Donald F. Malin Jr.

MALIN--Donald F. Jr., Of New York and Canaan, NY, died at his home in New York City on September 6. Cherished husband of Barbara, and father of their three children, Donald R. Malin, Peter R. Malin and Karin MalinCarleton, and their six grandchildren. He was born on October 20th, 1927 in Evanston, Illinois. A 1950 Northwestern University graduate, he graduated from Harvard Law School in 1953 and joined the New York law firm of Simpson Thacher and Bartlett. He opened the firm's London office in 1978 and was a senior partner when he retired in 1991. A Democrat, he continued to be active in local politics in Canaan, NY and was the Chairman of the Canaan Planning Board and an Attorney Volunteer for the Surrogate Decision-Making Committee of Columbia County. A baritone, he loved choral music and sang with choral groups wherever he lived. He began singing with the Oratorio Society of New York in 1981 and was a board member at the time of his death. He sang with the Berkshire Choral Institute in Sheffield, MA for 15 years. Memorial service will be private.
