Raymond Slinker Obituary

1919 - 2007
Died September 13, 2007. Son of Joseph and Desiree Bretingiere Slinker, deceased. Pre-deceased by Grandmother Anne Breetingiere of Aberdeen, Scotland and Thornwood, NY, and brothers, Noel and Lawrence Slinker. Past Commander VFW Post 1059, Jamaica, NY; member of Victory Club, London, England, former member American Legion. Graduate of Jamaica High School (1939), Pace College, NY - BBA Degree (1952); College of Insurance, Accounting (1954).
US Army Veteran - WW II D-Day+6. Raymond received a "Thank You America" certificate issued by the French Government and presented by Jean Galinier, Deputy Consul of France on July 19, 2002, in recognition of participation of all allied soldiers who took part in the Normandy Landing and the liberation of France during WWII.
Raymond was listed in "Who's Who in Insurance" (1964-1982). Retired as Personnel Director in 1982 from ISO New York Fire Insurance Rating Board, Princeton NJ and NY. During his lifetime, Raymond was employed by The Hanover Insurance Group as Personnel Director; The Manhattan Guarantee Insurance Group as Corporate Secretary; The London Assurance as Assistant Secretary and Radio-Keith - Orpheum Corp.
Raymond moved to Florida in 1987 from Kingston-Woodstock, NY, having resided at the Admiralty Yacht Club in Fort Myers, Ormond by the Sea and settled in Boynton Beach in 1995.
He is survived by dear friend and caregiver of 54 years, Michael C. Brown.

54 years with someone you care about very rare and the loss Ray is like losing part of yourself.
Take comfort in knowing that your were his life and he will always be with you.
My heart goes out to you and I will always hold Ray's memory with a smile, that is the only way I have ever known him.
