Herbert Blutt Obituary

BLUTT--Herbert, 85, of Windsor, beloved husband of Rose (Deckel) Blutt, died peacefully on Wednesday (October 24, 2007) at his home surrounded by his family. Born on June 20, 1922 in the Bronx, NY, he was the son of the late Harry and Tillie (Cohen) Blutt. Herb was a graduate of Evander Childs High School in the Bronx and went on to study at the City College of New York. He proudly served our country during WWII with the U.S. Air Force in the Philippines and Japan. Herbert was married to the love of his life, his childhood sweetheart, Rose, in 1944. Together they moved to Hartford, CT, in 1956, settling in Windsor, CT, in 1960. Herbert was a member of the Congregation Beth Ahm in Windsor, CT, where he served as the Ritual Committee Chairman since 1997. He attended services weekly for over 47 years and was beloved by the entire congregation. Herbert received the State of Connecticut United Synagogue Distinguished Service Award in 2005. He was a member of the Jewish Community Center of Hartford, CT, where he was an avid swimmer and physical fitness fanatic. Herbert worked as a Diesel Engineer for the Stanadyne Corporation for over 30 years, and taught engineering for various technical schools in the Hartford area. He was also the head of Stanadyne's Worldwide Training Education. Herb had a way with words that was a great help to him in being able to talk with and make friends with anyone. Herb was an avid Yankees Fan, a pass time he loved to share with his wife, Rose. He was a fearless fighter in facing the many illnesses he encountered throughout his life, which helped to put his family at ease. Besides his wife of 63 years, Rose, he leaves two sons, Jay Blutt and his wife Joni of Simsbury, CT, and Mitchell Blutt and his wife Margo of New York, NY; a brother, Seymour Blutt of New York, NY; and five grandchildren, Adam and Andrew Blutt and Gillian, Eliza and Emerson Blutt. A funeral service will be held on Friday, 12:30pm, at the Carmon Windsor Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Ave., Windsor, CT. Burial with Military Honor will follow in Congregation Beth Ahm Cemetery, Windsor, CT. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Congregation Beth Ahm, 362 Palisado Ave Windsor, CT 06095. Please visit us at www.carmonfuneralhome.com for online condolences.

To Jay, Joni and the Blutt family,

I extend my deepest sympathy to your entire family. I know how hard it is to lose someone so close; my father George Slossberg passed away in 2004 and there isn't a day that I wish I had one more day with him on Earth. I know that the love you shared will carry you through your time of mourning.

Sincerely,

Joanne ( Slossberg ) Kelly of
Stonington, Connecticut

To the Blutt family,
My condolences go out to the family. I was a coworker of Herb at Stanadyne Corporation. During those days, (1983-1985), I had the opportunity to work with Herb and learned a great deal from him.

Joni, Jay, and family,
Kenny and I want to extend our deepest sympathy on the loss of your wonderful father (grandfather). I met Herb once, and he seemed to have a wonderful sense of humor. Kenny had seen him several times at services, and he remarked to me how much he liked Herb. We know that Herb will always be looking down on his wonderful family with pride. Memories of the great times you had together will be the strength that carries you through this difficult time.

Deborah and I send our heart felt sympathies to you. The loss of a husband and father is a tremendous loss that is not fully appreciated until you turn to him and he is not there. May the peace of the Lord be with you.
