Lorraine Davis Obituary

DAVIS--Lorraine. Lorraine Jensen Davis died October 23, 2007 in Hamden, CT. During her long career at Conde Nast Publication she worked at Glamour, Vogue Children and Vogue magazines and served as Managing Editor of Vogue. She had been an active member of St. James' Church, Madison Avenue, and of the Cosmopolitan Club. She was predeceased by her husband, Richard M. Davis, and by her longtime companion, Leonard C. Lewin. She is survived by her daughter, Laura Davis, M.D., son-in-law, David Soper, and two grandchildren, all of Hamden. A memorial service will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church on the Green, New Haven, on Saturday, November 10 at 1:30pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made for scholarships at The Brearley School or to Trinity Church, New Haven.

Dear Laura and David, I was very sorry to read about Lorraine. She was a superb writer and editor. I learned a great deal from her during the decade or more I worked for her at Vogue, and we had a lot of fun.
