Ernest Leo Obituary

LEO--Ernest J., former Professor of German at Brooklyn College passed away on November 8, 2007 in Manhattan. He was born in Brooklyn in 1929 to Mary Harre Leo and Ernest M. Leo. He graduated Columbia College, Phi Beta Kappa and received a Masters from Northwestern. He taught and studied for a Ph.D. at Harvard. He served in the Army CounterIntelligence Corps until his honorable discharge in 1954. Ernest taught German at University of Pittsburgh, Columbia, City College and then at Brooklyn College for over 20 years until his retirement in 1992. An avid historian of the Napoleonic era. He is survived by four nephews and their spouses, two grandnieces and two grandnephews. Services at Gannon Funeral Home at 152 E. 28th St. 6-8pm on Monday November 12, and on Tuesday morning between 9-10am. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemeter Tuesday, November 13. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given in Ernest's memory to their favorite charity.
