Violette. Mama Rosie couldn’t have chosen a more fitting name for her beautiful baby girl with the startling blue eyes. Violet, the flower, something beautiful, brings pleasure to people who view it and keep it close. So it was with Violette Gross, who found ways to bring everyone together and keep her family and extended family close… not only to her, but to one another. I often observed her, watching everyone assembled in her beautiful home, as she assessed the interactions of all, and took pleasure in knowing that they were all gathered there because of her. She made it happen, and she kept it going, with classic notes, letters, phone calls, and loving thoughts whispered in the midst of any gathering. It was a joy to see her beautiful face, topped with the tresses that all women envied, accessorized beautifully, in her exquisite setting. Most amazing of all was her “withitness”. She was truly worldly and wise. She should have been a teacher considering all that she taught us.
Violette Gross, (Mom, Honey) was and always will be a treasure to us all.

Darling Honey,
Today there are tears in the hearts of anyone who knew you. You were truly one of the most outstanding people I have ever known. Since I was a little girl, I remember how beautiful you were; truly looking like a queen whenever you entered a room.
I looked forward to all your letters, every one of which I have saved and will always cherish. It is hard to realize there will be no more. I will miss our talks, your beautiful words to me always and your beautiful welcoming smile when I visited you.
With you gone, this marks the end of an era; an era that will never again repeat itself and will always be remembered. I know that you are now with Popsie and my own darling mother who you loved as a sister. I love you and will remember you forever. Edie

Our Honey...Instructing us on the do's-and-dont's of proper conduct or amazing us with your sharp-as-a-tack wit and tongue, you will remain with all that had the pleasure and honor to call you mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend. Our world cannot be the same without you. All our love.
