I am saddened by this tragic news. Bill was a friend and inspiration to me in the mid-sixties. We lost contact after I move to CA in 1971. My deepest regrets to the Gallagher family.

I, too, was hired in the Brooklyn office of the Legal Aid Society in the 70's. Bill set the tone and it was a wonderful one. We worked hard, played hard, did a great job for our clients. I could not have had a better boss or a better first job. We continued as friends for years and I am very sorry to hear of his passing. My condolences to his family and loved ones.

To My Dearest Relatives - Elizabeth, Dawn Marie, Sean, Matthew, Elizabeth, Maureen and Alice we are heartbroken on your loss, Billy will be sadly missed by all your family in Ireland.

Billy, I thought of you with love today but that is nothing new,
I thought about you yesterday and days before that too,
I think of you in silence I often speak your name
All I have are memories and your picture in a frame
Your memory is my keepsake with which I’ll never part
God has you in His keeping I have you in my heart.

Condolences to the family.

Bill, you were one of a kind in the very best and admirable sense of those words. When you became my boss at Legal Aid in the late 60s or early 70s, I became blessed with an inspiring and talented mentor and a warm, witty, loyal, irrepressible friend. Thanks for having been that to me and to so many others. Rest in peace. Roland Thau

Bill hired both my husband and I as young attorneys at The Legal Aid Society, Criminal Defense Division and started our careers. We both have wonderful memories of those early days. Bill's energy, wit, courage and winning smile are part of them. Please accept our sympathy for your loss.

Liz, my heart is with you and your family at this moment, and I know it's not an easy time.

Time continues to show us tomorrow, tonight, today isn't granted to any of us, and we shouldn't take it for granted.

It's important to treat people right and live our lives to the fullest as each second, minute, hour might be our last.

I LOVE YOU!
