I knew Kevin at Southeast High School. We dated briefly. He was an incredibly talented artist and a kind person. He brightened the halls with his smile and always made me laugh. Though I hadn't kept in touch, I was very saddended to hear of his passing. I appreciate the notice on the Southeast Alumni website. I will always remember his gentleness and humor. May God grant his family and friends peace.

To the Family of Kevin Shores:
Having just learned of Kevin's passing, I want to extend my sincere condolences to all of the Shores Family. I was saddened to learn that he had died suddenly, but I know that God has his purpose and sometimes we don't know what that purpose is. Kevin was a likable sort of fellow and he will be missed greatly by those that knew and loved him. My deepest sympathies are to be conveyed to his sister Mae, and brother Lee and his family.

I will miss Kevin and glad that I met him after moving to Shepherd House. He would always be kind, gentle and polite when I came over to see him.
Kevin is now with his Heavenly Father and we will see him again!

Kevin was a kind & gentle soul who was gifted musically & artistically. He was not only my brother, but a friend. We shared the usual disagreements and confidences of close confidants.

Kevin exposed me to worlds I might otherwise not have known. From him, I learned a bit of empathy and an appreciation for the notion that: "There for the grace of God go I."

I, along with others, grieve Kevin's loss. I will miss his calls; our extended converations about religion, spirituality, art, and politics; his generosity of spirit, and dry wit.

There are few people who have left such a deep and penetrating mark upon my soul and that of others.

Kevin and I first became friends in the 7th grade. Through the years, we remained friends, though I left Greensboro and returned several times.
He was a rare individual with a great heart and left us too soon.
In his own genuine way, he blessed each person he called friend. I am glad to hear heartfelt words from others whose lives he touched by just being himself.

A song on a Jars of Clay cassette found in his cassette player might sum up his sentiments at this time of his untimely death best:

'When I die, don't cry for me, in my Father's arms I'll be.
The wounds this world left on my soul will all be healed and I'll be whole.'

I have lost a brother, but know I will see him again.
