Mildred Tabb Trent
Mildred Tabb Trent, 86, of Appomattox died at her residence on Aug. 23, 2008. She was wife of the late David McNider Trent.
Born in Newport News on Sept. 17, 1921, she was the daughter of William Lively and Alice Lear Tabb. Millie was a nurse for Dr. Clyde G. O'Brien for 27 years, retiring in 1984. She was a member of Memorial United Methodist, where she served in many capacities, including UMW life member and president, chairman of the Trustees and chairman of the Administrative Board. Millie served over 30 Years on the Board of Directors of the Appomattox Unit of the
American Cancer Society, was a charter member of the Appomattox Woman's Club, was past Brownie and Girl Scout Leader, was past Girl Scout Coordinator of Appomattox Co., and was a member of American Legion Post #104 Auxiliary.
She is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth T. Hill and Brenda T. Giles and her husband, John, all of Newport News; one brother, Lively Tabb of Newport News; two sisters-in-law, Rachel Tabb of Williamsburg and Elizabeth Marshall of Buchannan; five grandchildren, Russell Millner Jr. and his wife, Missy, Michael Millner and his wife, Lauren, Eric Giles and his wife, Cher, David Giles and his wife, Robyn, Elizabeth Abbott and her husband Michael; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra Trent Millner, and two brothers, John Tabb and Randolph Tabb.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 25, 2008, at Memorial United Methodist by the Rev. Bruce Johnson. Burial will follow in Liberty Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today, Aug. 24, 2008, at Robinson Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
