Sue Johnson Hodges

Sue Johnson Hodges, 76, of Altavista went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Aug. 23, 2008.

Sue was born June 13, 1932, in Kannapolis, N.C., a daughter of the late Hoover Johnson and Lillian Johnson Bullins. She was retired from Lynchburg General Hospital where she worked as a switchboard operator. The greatest joy in her life was her family, whom she loved very dearly.

She is survived by three daughters, Karen Taylor and her husband, Michael, of Altavista, Donna Hodges of Altavista and Kimberly Hodges and her special friend, Jimmy Fulton, of Greensboro, N.C.; her grandchildren, Eddie Schages and his special friend, Jennifer Shelton, of Lynchburg and Kelly Schages of Altavista; her beloved great-grandchildren, McKalyn, Breanna and Andrew; sisters, Jo Brady of Greensboro, N.C., and Vicky Mundy of Charlotte, N.C.; a lifelong friend, Sue Dearing of Madison Heights; and an extended family, all of whom loved her deeply.

She was also preceded in death by her son, Winston Lowell Hodges; a sister, Doris Cates; a brother, Walter Johnson; a grandson, Gregory Taylor; and a great-grandson, Tyler Schages.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2008, at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2008, in the chapel of Tharp Funeral Home, with the Rev. Ted Farris officiating. Interment will follow in Virginia Memorial Park.

Karen, Donna, Kimberly: Really sorry to hear of your loss. But I know she is now at Home. She and Lowell are together again.
