Agnes SHELTON Obituary

Agnes Hunley Shelton

Agnes Hunley Shelton, 83, of 657 Jasper Woods Road, Hurt, died Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2008, at Lynchburg General Hospital. She was the wife of the late Berkley Howard Shelton.

She was born April 7, 1925, in Altavista, a daughter of the late Robert Haynes Hunley and Osie Blessard Hunley. She was a member of Motley Baptist Church and a retired employee of General Electric.

She is survived by four sons, Thomas J. Patterson and his wife, Frances, of Hurt, Lavin H. Shelton and his wife, Kathy, of Altavista, Curtis H. Shelton and Leonard R. Shelton and his wife, Elaine, all of Hurt; one daughter, Kimberley Shelton Crickenberger and her husband, Steward, of Gretna; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, E. L. (Bud) and Bruce Hunley, both of Altavista; and one sister, Pearl Bolick of Burlington, N.C.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Robert Hunley, and two sisters, Helen Raiford and Hazel Campbell.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 28, 2008, at the Finch and Finch Chapel by the Rev. Bert Johnson, with interment to follow at Green Lawn Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p. m. today, Aug. 27, 2008, at Finch and Finch Funeral and Cremation Service, Altavista, and other times at the residence.
