Thurman Roosevelt Arrington "T.R."

Thurman Roosevelt Arrington, 75, of 55 Glade Court, Altavista, passed away Thursday, Aug. 28, 2008. He was the beloved husband of Barbara Smith Arrington for 48 years.

He was born June 30, 1933, in Charlotte County, the son of the late Samuel Cole Arrington and the late Addie Clifton Arrington. He was a retired agent with State Farm Insurance Company and proudly served his country as a veteran in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War Conflict.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his brother, James Arrington and his wife, Charlotte, of Richmond; two sisters, Ruby A. Dickerson and her husband, Robert, of Richmond and Jean A. Paulette and her husband, Millard, of Lynchburg; and a sister-in-law, Christine Arrington of Farmville. Also surviving are a number of nieces, nephews, close friends and his special care givers.

A brother, Murray Arrington preceded him in death.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 1, 2008, at Fort Hill Memorial Park in Lynchburg, with the Rev. Jim Critchley officiating.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today, Aug. 31, 2008, at Finch and Finch Inc. Funeral and Cremation Service, Altavista, and other times at the residence.

The family suggests that those wishing to make memorials consider the Patrick Henry Boys and Girls Plantation, P.O. Box 1398aa, Brookneal, VA 24525; or a charity of your choice.
