Reuben CHISM Obituary
Reuben William Chism, 73, of 84 Cope Lane, Lynch Station, died Monday, Sept. 1, 2008, at Lynchburg General Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Margaret Cope Chism for 45 years.
He was born May 1, 1935, in Pittsylvania County, a son of the late Alvin Lee Chism and Jennie Haskins Chism Robertson. He attended Thomas Road Baptist Church and was retired from BGF Industries with more than 35 years of service.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Dale L. Chism and his wife, Donna, of Hurt; two daughters, Della M. Dickerson and her fianc?, Tim Sellick, of Madison Heights and Sherry C. Brown and her husband, Vincent, of Altavista; three granddaughters, Christy L. Dudley, Ashley F. Brown and Jasmine A. Brown; one brother, Roger Chism and his wife, Brenda, of Gretna; two sisters, Lorene C. Ferguson and her husband, James, of Gretna and Shelby Jean Crews and her husband, Clyde, of Hurt.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Harry Wayne Chism.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 4, 2008, in Green Hill Cemetery, Altavista, by the Rev. David Heerspink.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today, Sept. 3, 2008, at Finch and Finch Funeral and Cremation Service, Altavista, and other times at the residence.
