Mary Katherine Edwards

Mary Katherine Edwards, 84, of 410 Westwood Drive, Altavista, died Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2008, at Lynchburg General Hospital. She was the wife of the late Robert Paul Edwards.

She was born Dec. 22, 1923, in Columbus, Ohio, a daughter of the late William Galamore and Mary Toso Galamore. She was a former member of The Altavista Garden Club and a retired bookkeeper.

She is survived by one daughter, Lisa Thompson and her husband, Mike, of Columbus, Ohio; one sister, Betty Owen of Altavista; a nephew, Ross Owen and his wife, Dana; one niece, Pam Cunningham and her husband, Carey; one great-nephew, Austin Cunningham; and two great-nieces, Carson Owen and Lauren Owen. She was preceded in death by one brother, Tony Galamore.

A celebration of Mary's life will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2008, at Avoca, 1514 Main St., Altavista.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that those wishing to make memorials consider Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, P.O. Box 1776, Williamsburg, VA 23187-1776.

Liza, Your Mom will be missed by us. I don't really know what we will do without her. She was the best friend in the whole wide world and her sister will also miss her very much . We all 4 were the best of friends and had so much fund on our travels together. Lisa know that we will take care of Betty just like we did both of them and they took care of us too. We love you
