Jonathan Laster Obituary
Jonathan Allen laster, 54, of Lynchburg, died Sunday, Aug. 23, 2009, at his residence.
Born Dec. 23, 1954, in Ithaca, N.Y., he was the son of Miriam Sargeant Laster of Norway, Maine, and the late Howard Joseph Laster. He was a machinist with Alliance Industrial Corp. Jonathan was an avid runner and hiker on the local trails and was a former national and world champion slot car racer.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by three sisters, Lisa Laster of Stockholm, Sweden, Jenny Genser of Arlington and Sally Hudson of Long Valley, N.J., and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. today, Aug. 25, 2009, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel, 7404 Timberlake Road, Lynchburg, VA 24502.
Interment will be held at a later date in Norway, Maine.
Those wishing to make memorial contributions are asked to consider the Natural Bridge Appalchian Trail Club (NBATC), P.O. Box 3012, Lynchburg, VA 24503.

I grew up with Jon and the Lasters in Greenbelt and went to Sandy Spring Friends School with him. I was very saddened to hear of his passing. He was a kind and decent man. And the best Frazsnapper I ever saw.

I know John will be gtreatly missed by his co-workers at Alliance as well as his family.I am so sorry for your loss,I will miss talking to him,hearing his opinion on different topics,and seeing his smile,he always had a smile for you no matter what and I think thats the one thing I will remember the most.

Words cannot express how very sorry I am for your loss. Having had the privilege to meet Jonathan. I clearly understand what an inspiration he was to many. His inner strength and humility stood out in such a way that was truly unforgettable to me. Jonathan was always friendly and courteous, he will be missed by many.
