Herman Caul ROXBURY, MA

Herman Caul, 92, of Roxbury, Massachetts, formerly of Waynesboro, Virginia, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 27, 2008, at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts.

He was born September 29, 1915, in Waynesboro, Virginia, to the late John and Betty (Smith) Caul.

He attended Boston University Business Manage-ment Program, wrote and taught music, as well as becoming accomplished at free hand drawing.

He was a World War II veteran and dedicated 24 years of service to the nation in active and reserve Naval duty.

Herman was a beloved and dedicated member of Peoples Baptist Church for more than 63 years. He was a Trustee, Sunday School Teacher, Chairman of the Trustee Budget Committee, an Usher, and a member of the Choral and Men's Choir. Herman sang tenor in annual Messiah concerts and took an active part in the fiscal and spiritual growth of his church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, and one sister.

He is survived by one niece, Deloris Gray and her husband, Bradford, of Waynesboro, Virginia; two nephews, Herman Caul of Waynesboro, Virginia, and John Caul of Harrisonburg, Virginia; five great-nieces, Deborah World, Rebecca Gray, Terri Howard, Sandra Walker, Glennida Proctor; five great-nephews, Brad and Don Gray, Kenneth, Anthony and Theo Chase; a host of other relatives, friends and hundreds of loving members of Peoples Baptist Church of Boston.

A funeral service was held September 2, 2008, in Boston, Massachusetts. Services were provided by the J. B. Johnson Funeral Home.

A local service will be held in the chapel of McCutcheon's Funeral Home 11 a.m. Satur-day, September 6, 2008, with viewing one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Riverview Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to Peoples Baptist Church, 136 Camden Street, Boston, MA 02118.

Crossing the Bar
